A Sleepover!

Audrey had her very first sleepover a few weeks ago!  She had been begging to have her friend Madi over, and finally Madi's mom and I agreed to it.  We were a little apprehensive with how it would go, but the girls had an absolute blast.  Alli brought Madi over with matching pj's for the girls.  They were beyond excited!

We watched a movie, ordered pizza, had a picnic, had a singing party, and all sorts of sleepover fun.

When I tucked them in at 9:00 (they chose to sleep side by side on Audrey's floor) I was certain they would be soon asleep and I would chalk this up to a perfect first sleepover.  NOPE!  These precious girls didn't fall asleep until almost 11.
And were up AT SEVEN AM.

But, it was seriously too much fun and I can't wait until the next one!

Fun Weekend

As I'm typing this, Audrey is in her room getting ready for bed, belting out "Let It Go" at the top of her lungs.  It is the cutest thing ever.  Lately she has just been off the charts FUN.  Like I want to bottle up this stage of her life and keep it this way forever.  I find myself watching her do something, like rhyme words or carefully create a card for her friend's birthday, and wanting to freeze time.  I'm sure she'll throw a tantrum in the morning to remind me that it's not all sunshine and roses, but lately it has been. ;)

We had SUCH a fun weekend!  I left my camera at school on Friday after using it to take photos of my students, and really wished I had it this weekend.  We kicked off the weekend on Friday with Grammy picking up Audrey from school so I could go to dinner with some friends.  I had some much needed Girl time with my friends, and Audrey had a blast with Grammy!

On Saturday we headed to my friend Liz's daughter's birthday party at Paint N Party.  Audrey absolutely loved it and got to create her own ceramic artwork that we have now hung in her room. Afterwords, we were supposed to meet another friend at ASI Gymnastic's Re-Opening Party.  They had to cancel, so we went on our own.  Audrey hasn't been in Gymnastics for almost a year now I think, and I didn't really think she missed it.  But from the moment we walked in, all she could talk about was all of the jumps/moves/stretches she learned and how she just HAS to go back to Gymnastics classes again.  With Spring soccer going on right now, I'm not sure we can make that happen!

On Sunday, Grandpa took us to The Little Mermaid Musical at the Dallas Music Hall.  Audrey and I were both super excited about it.  When we started driving down there, I got a little nervous.  It was hailing, sleeting, snowing, raining, etc.  Just about every type of precipitation that could come down, did!  I wanted to turn around, but my dad volunteered to drive, so we trekked on and made it.  The Dallas Music Hall was beautiful and we had great seats.  The show was AMAZING.  Just amazing.  Let me just say that it held Audrey's attention for almost 3 hours.  It was interesting to see how they changed the movie version to fit the stage.  Audrey caught on to every little difference and let me know "This is DIFFERENT than the movie!" a few times throughout the show.  She absolutely loved it keeps singing the songs from it.  Such a fun experience.

Then it was time to drive home.  The weather was really really bad.  It was sleeting and the ice was sticking to the ground.  It was a tough drive home, and I thought for sure we were going to crash a few times, but we made it.

And then today was a SNOW DAY!  Woo hoo!  We've had lots of drawing time, singing time, and cleaning time.  Audrey was disappointed that the snow didn't stick and we couldn't play in it, but we enjoyed a nice day around the house.

This weekend was one to remember.  :)

Audrey Loses a Tooth

Wow!  We've had a HUGE milestone in our house this week. Audrey lost a tooth!  She mentioned last week that one of her teeth felt wiggly, but I kind of brushed it off and didn't really put much thought into it.  My friends who have 6 year olds are just now talking about their kiddos losing teeth, so I didn't think Audrey was anywhere close to this.  We were at Central Market picking up a dinner I was bringing to my friends' the next night.  I really wasn't paying much attention to Audrey when all of a sudden she tugged on my arm and whispered, "Mama, my tooth is out!"  I turned around and saw her tooth in her hand.  I freaked out.  I could not believe she just lost a tooth!  I just stood there in shock for a little bit, and kept saying, "I can't believe you lost a tooth!"  A bunch of sweet ladies walked by and commented on how exciting this was.  :)  Audrey made me hold her tooth until we could get home and put her tooth in a safe place.  Luckily her Nana and Papa had gotten her the sweetest Tooth Fairy book with a special bag to leave your tooth in for the Tooth Fairy.  Audrey insisted that we put the tooth in the bag right away.  She then proceeded to go to bed at a VERY early bedtime because she wanted to be ready!

She fell right asleep, and was up at 5 am running into my room, "Mama, the TOOTH FAIRY CAME! MY TOOTH IS GONE AND NOW THERE IS MONEY IN THERE!"  After much debate, and from hearing from some other Tooth Fairies that the going rate can be anywhere up to $30 (yes people, I know someone who got 30 DOLLARS for losing a tooth!) Audrey received $2.50.  She was beyond thrilled to have both dollar bills and change.

Milestone:  First Lost Tooth.  Check.  WOW!!

Oh, and she also fell back asleep after the 5 am wake up, which I have to say was equally as exciting!  ;)

It looks like she's still loyal to her fave color PINK and of course, Tangled.  I really thought she was going to say Frozen, because she really loved that movie and we've been listening to the soundtrack so much, but nope, she's still a Tangled girl.  And it seems like her tastes have matured a bit.  Instead of Wendy's hamburgers and visiting friends' houses, she now wants to go to Disney World again and eat at sit down restaurants.  :)
